Dana Lowder, Real Estate Loan Officer

This week we are recognizing Dana, one of our mortgage bankers who, with her unique experience and background in real estate, can truly understand and help our customers finance their dream of homeownership.

We asked Dana, what she has learned throughout her time in the mortgage industry and what makes her different from other mortgage lenders. 

 

  1. How did you get into real estate lending? 
  • "Prior to coming to Farmers Bank I was a real estate agent and worked as a closing agent for a local settlement company."
  1. How long have you been in real estate lending?
  • "I started in 2019 as a real estate lending assistant.  I found the job to be rewarding and challenging at the same time and I knew I was hooked."
  1. What has been the biggest change you have seen in the industry during your time as a lender?
  • "I started just before COVID hit so I watched it go from a buyers’ market to a sellers’ market real fast."
  1. What is your favorite part about the mortgage lending world?
  • "The joy of helping people secure financing for what might just be the most expensive and emotionally charged purchase of their life.  Making them feel at ease and helping them to the closing table is very rewarding."
  1. What sets you apart from other lenders?
  • "My background in real estate.  I understand how important the lender to realtor relationship is.  I understand how it works and why communication between the two is essential for all parties involved."
  1. How do you help customers - what role do you play in buying their home?
  • "I feel it is very important to educate our customers on how the home loan process works.  There is a lot of information out there and not every bank is the same.  We are here to inform and educate borrowers on the different types of loan programs available to them and what they need to do to get their finances in order before they even start looking for homes.  You don’t want to have a situation where a buyer finds the home of their dreams only to be told they do not qualify.  It’s discouraging and heartbreaking."
